Corey Lamonte Poon “Poon” (born March 9, 1977) was summoned to eternal rest on Thursday, January 2, 2020 in Easton, MD.

He graduated from Easton High School in June 1995. He received certification as a CNA through the continuing education program offered through his long-term work experience at Black & Decker. From there Corey joined the Sterile Processing Technician Team, where he was loved by many, at the University of MD Medical System, Easton, MD until his departure.

The highlight of his life was the dedication he had as a father to his two sons.

Corey leaves to cherish his memory: his children: Corey Lamonte and Jamere’ Nathaniel Nichols (Easton, MD); father and mother, Benjamin & Deborah Poon (Cambridge, MD); four siblings, Felicia Pinkett Wood (Baltimore, MD), Stacy Cooper – Shontell (Cambridge, MD); Carla Poon (Cambridge, MD), and Marlon Poon (Cambridge, MD); along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

My deepest sincere condolences to your family. Corey was an awesome person. Well mannered and had the best laugh. I will always remember our time at black & decker and the nickname he gave me "chestertown". Thank you for birthing such a wonderful person, though we didn't have him that long, he made an impact on a lot of lives. A soul gone far too soon. I am so sorry for your loss of a father, son, brother and friend. He will live forever in our heart. Love you all.

My deepest condolences to the family. I remember this young man as a child, I remember him and his older brother playing with my son Robbie and nephew Lamont. I know this was a shock to the family and his sons, may you stay strong for each other and cherish his memories so that they live on for the children...

My prayers goes out to his children and family. Corey was a friend to my college roommates and myself while we all attended Chesapeake College. We continued to talk and keep a friendship throughout all these years after returning to Baltimore. A true definition of you don’t have to talk to a person everyday to keep a friendship. May your soul rest, and your legacy continue.

Losing a child is indescribable and only God can ease and heal the hurt....but we still have to trust God's plan and give thanks "in all things." I will keep the family and friends lifted up in prayer❤

Heartfelt condolences to the family. Corey was a wonderful person. I greatly enjoyed talking with him at the gym where his parents work. He always had a smile, or a wave and was willing to chat. I could also see the affection between Corey and his parents and he certainly helped to add a little brightness with his humor. God bless you all.

Corey was such a great person. We meet in easton at a dance and he always made sure we was ok to get home. Every time I saw him he always had a smile. Just a great and genuine soul. He loved his kids as he talked about them all the time. We will miss his spirit!

I am so very sorry to hear of Cory's passing. I work at SRH and would see Cory often as he would come to my office where the candy basket was always available (he liked sour / tart candies not chocolate). I was always impressed by his kindness and polite words. Cory you will be greatly missed.
