William Russell Allen, son of the late Clarence Allen and Mildred Weal was born on April 20, 1953. The life of our father, brother, uncle and friend came to a close on October 25, 2023 at the age of 70.
Steel Bill, Sweets, Billy O as he was affectionately known by many, received his education in the Woodbridge School District. Upon completion of High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he later received an honorable discharge. While in the Navy, William received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served his country from April 27, 1972 until April 6, 1976.
Bill was a skilled worker. Prior to his illness, he held employment at several places which included BCT Construction, Durham Ridge Assisted Living, Lydia’s Care, Nanticoke Homes, and More Than A Cut. During his free time he enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, singing, dancing, and enjoyed eating his sister, Bonnie’s, cooking. Bill loved the Lord and accepted him as his personal savior.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by stepparents; Moses Weal and Mary Catherine Weal, Mable LaMar; sisters: Valerie Jones, Jennifer Snow, Gail Allen, and Brenda Jones; brother: Clarence A. Allen Jr. and great-grandchildren: Cameron X. Russ and Dontri O. Bolden, III.
William leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his devoted children, Shenika L. Parker, Sharay L. Knight, Sharonda E. Knight, Rahnice A. Parker, Miranda C. Parker, William R. Parker, LeShaunda R. Allen, and LeShaun R. Allen; sisters: Sandra L. Cardoza, Thea Nichols, Benita E. Solola, Owena Davis (Jason); brothers: Garrett Allen (Marilyn), Wade Weal, and Dana Sutton (Lisa); 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
