Wilbert Matthew Murray departed peacefully on February 14, 2023, at Compass Regional Hospice, The Barnette Center.
On December 1, 1940, Wilbert was born in Jonestown, MD, to the late Ella Mae Murray and Matthew J Sharpe.
Wilbert was educated at Caroline County public schools. After leaving school, he enlisted in the United States Army in the Vietnam Conflict, stationed in Alaska, where he served as a military tanker mechanic.
Upon his return, he was employed with Noble Motor Rebuilders and Preston 151 Line, where he retired. He later returned to the workforce at Johnson Controls.
Wilbert was affectionately known as "Calf" and "Will" by Family and friends. He was gentle with a heart of gold who would give anything you needed. But don't let the gentleness fool you in his earlier days; he was part of the "Untouchables." He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and hanging out with the other bikers. He was multi-talented, from cutting hair to being the community mechanic, later owning his own business known as Wilbert's Garage.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Marie Murray (Griffin), his parents and stepmother, Mary Sharpe, one sister Carolyn Dorothea Murray, and one brother Andrew Kenneth Murray.
He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Charlene Murray, Sharon Hubbard, Carmeshia Williams (Sylvester), and four sons, Walter Dotson (Lisa), Wilbert Flamer, Vernon Murray (Teresa), and Lamont Murray (Cleo). Thirteen grandchildren. Fifteen great-grandchildren. One sister, Shirley Small, and four brothers, Alexander Murray (Joan), Nelson Sharpe (Janet), Maurice Sharpe (Audrey), and Daniel Cornell Murray. One Uncle, Herbert Murray, and one Aunt, Ethel Perkins. A Special friend Odessa Hubbard. A Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
