It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Edward Strawberry, 64 of Hurlock, MD. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday January 31, 2023. Wayne affectionately
known as “Pops” was born September 30, 1958, in Dorchester County, MD.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Robert H. Strawberry Sr. and Alloma “Adeline” A. Johnson-Strawberry; two brothers Robert H. Strawberry, Jr. and David Clayton Strawberry.
Wayne graduated from Dorchester County Public Schools. He enjoyed playing basketball in his youth and grew a passion for the love of cars starting as a teenager. He maintained employment
as a young adult at Airpax, C & C auto repair, and Cephas Enterprises. For many years, Wayne coordinated Pop’s Trucking. He spent a lot of time supplying truck tires for many trucking
establishments. He knew cars well and was the family and community auto repair man. Going to the racetrack and racing cars was one of his favorite pastimes. Wayne dominated the
racetrack with his classic cars, most of which, he rebuilt himself.
Wayne’s good humor and generous spirit touched everyone he met. Wayne would sit for hours at numerous locations site-seeing and reading his bible. He loved to teach and talk about the
goodness of Jesus Christ. His spiritual affiliation consists of Greater Full Gospel Church and Jackson Street Church of God in Hurlock, MD. He also was a member of Ministers of Change.
Wayne is survived by his wife, whom he loved dearly, Charlotte Holmes- Strawberry, one son; Terrell Strawberry of Mardela Springs, MD, two daughters; Dyshekia Strawberry of Easton, MD
and Shawanda McCray of Cambridge, MD, seven grandchildren; TyKeira Strawberry, Destiny Strawberry, Donaya Strawberry, Tahron Fletcher, Tayon Fletcher, Tashon Fletcher and Talia
McCray, two sisters; Marie Davis (Draper) of Takoma, WA and Doretha Cephas (Charles) of Hurlock, MD, two brothers; Rodney Strawberry (Loutrina) of Fort Meyers, FL and Anthony
Strawberry of Hurlock, MD, two special children; Derek Wongus and Lance Cephas, one special grandchild, Lebrone Scott whom he loved as his own, and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends whom he loved.
