Walter Winford Latham Jr., 76, of Seaford, Delaware, passed away peacefully at his home on December 14, 2025.
Born on March 22, 1949, in New Bern, North Carolina, Walter was the son of Walter Winford Latham Sr. and Rosalind Viola Williams. He was educated in the Caroline County School System and attended Lockerman High School.
Affectionately known by family and friends as “Piggly Wiggly” and “Baby,” Walter was admired for his warm and friendly nature. He had a deep love for music, especially Doo-Wop and classic R&B, and was a talented singer. Walter also had a natural gift for gardening and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He could often be found relaxing outside, appreciating a gentle breeze while watching children practice football at Hurley Park Drive in Seaford—a program led by his nephew.
Walter attended the Church of Christ in Seaford and also attended First Baptist Church of Seaford. He enjoyed participating in services and events at The Life Center in Greenwood, Delaware. Additionally, Walter was a client with His Hope Ministries, where the staff cared deeply for him.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Jews (Andre) of Cambridge, Maryland; sisters Ethel Marie Scott of New York City, Doris Ann Washington of Augusta, Georgia, Harriet Fellows (Wilbert) of Baltimore, Maryland, and Dorcas Latham of Newbern, North Carolina; brothers William Horace Williams of Clinton, Maryland, Robert Earl Williams (DeeDee) of Chicago, Illinois, and Kenneth Latham of Salisbury, Maryland; niece Dazaree Shabazz; nephews Shawn Williams, Calvin Bolden, and Timothy Bolden; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his siblings Joyce Louise Peyton, Melvin Curtis Williams, Tyrone Darnell Williams, Ronnie Jerome Latham, and Rosmary Belzaires.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver and niece, Dazaree Shabazz, for her dedicated service and sacrifice. Walter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
