Walter Edward Blake Jr. affectionately known to many as “Junior” was surrounded by his loving family when he was called to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was 61 years old.
Born in Easton, Maryland on December 20, 1963, to the late Walter and Gladys Blake Sr., Walter was educated in the Talbot County Public Schools. He worked as a laborer for various companies over the years, always known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
Walter was a true people person who loved to chat, and he seemed to know a little something about every subject. He cherished laughter, time with family, hunting, watching classic westerns, and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles simple joys that reflected his easygoing spirit and love of life.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. Blake Sr. and Gladys “Shirley” Blake; sister, Vera Blake; and niece, Stacey Blake.
Walter’s memory will forever be carried on by his beloved daughter and son, Keosha Blake and Jawaun Blake; five grandchildren, Isaiah Brown, Elijah Brown, Christian Brown, Jewel Blake, and Journee Blake, sisters, Faith Blake, Barbara Blake, Vanessa Lawrence, and Karen Roberts (Edward); brother, Frank (Marvel) Deshields; nieces, Candace Henry (Garnell), Keri Blake, Roxanne Wilson, Wonda Deshields, Ronda Meekins, and Monica Davis-Brannon; nephews, LaDarian Blake (Logan), Aaron Blake Sr., Tracy Blake Sr., and Edward Roberts Jr. (Takelia); aunts, Doris Roach (Roland) and Bertina Thomas, along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and a special companion, Jennifer Spence.
Though his time here was far too short, Walter’s memory will live on in the love of his family, the laughter he brought to every room, and the many lives he touched with his kindness.
