Sherman Perry Obituary

Sherman Lamarr Perry was born on July 22nd ,1960 in Lewes, Delaware to the late Theodore W. and Naomi V. Perry. On January 8th, 2026, he entered eternal rest at the age of 65, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Easton, MD.

Sherman received his education in the Cape Henlopen school district. He joined the Army in 1979, until he was honorably discharged. He later joined the National Guard in Lewes, Delaware.

Sherman was employed at Sussex Correctional Institution, in Georgetown, Delaware for 15 years.

Sherman was united in holy matrimony to Tina on December 15, 1994. From this union, they had four children. He was a member of Mt. Plymouth AME Church in Felton, DE.

One of Sherman’s favorite things to do was yardwork, specifically cutting grass. He loved to do yardwork with Mr. Bill Collick. When he wasn't outside, you could find him in the house watching sports. His favorite teams were the Indianapolis Colts, Washington Wizards, and the Baltimore Orioles. He loved spending time with his family and could make friends wherever he went.

Sherman was preceded in death by his father Theodore W. Perry Sr., his mother Naomi V. Perry; two brothers, Theodore W. Perry Jr, and Robert K. Perry; three sisters Marta V. Perry, Phyllis B. Sheppard and Evelyn C. Johnson.

Left to cherish his memories are, his wife Tina, three sons, Nehemiah Smith (Ann) of Harrington, DE, Sherman Pitts and Dontrell Perry both of Hurlock, MD, two daughters, Shikeena Pitts of Baltimore, MD and Shermaine Perry of Hurlock, MD, seven grandchildren, Kamani Armstrong, Tyrique Dorsey, Nehemiah Smith, Nyla Smith, Nazaire Smith, Naheim Smith, Neveah Pitts-Smith; sisters, Margaret Ayers, Ernestine Coursey (William) Jacqueline Weston, all from Delaware and a brother Timothy Perry of Lewes DE and a host of relatives and friends.
