Shelton Eugene Hubbard Sr., known to everyone as “Bubby” or “Trash Man”, departed this life at 82 years young on July 19, 2023. Bubby was born on October 8, 1940. He was the first of five children born to the late Clayton Leonard Hubbard Sr. and Edna Marie Dotson-Hubbard.
Bubby was educated in the Dorchester County school district. Bubby touched everyone’s life he encountered, whether he was fixing your car or building you a deck. Bubby was the Jack of all trades. Bubby worked for Hastings Garage until he retired.
Bubby was a man of few words until someone would talk about beating him on a bike or being able to ride a bike better than him - that’s when the Trash Man would come out.
Shelton loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his brothers (The Thunder-guards). He enjoyed watching his Western movies and fixing cars while riding his motorcycle.
Surviving his death are his seven children, Dinez Murray, Shelton (Shawn) Hubbard Jr., Karen Lamb, Sheila Sutton, Elsie (Michael) Spruill, Vonta Hubbard, and Joseph Cephas, twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, four siblings; Clayton (Romona) Hubbard, Shirley Pinkett, Selbe (Diane) Hubbard, and his devoted sister, Margaret Hubbard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bubby has two children who preceded him in death, Rozelle Jenkins and Onnette Smith. Also, his handsome grandson, Joshua Murray.
