On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, the Lord whispered “sweet peace” to our beloved Shayla; and she was called to eternal rest. She departed this life at University of Maryland Laurel Medical Center, in Laurel, Maryland. She was 38 years old.

Shayla was a compassionate, loving and fun person to be around. She had an infectious smile and enjoyed a good laugh. She loved taking selfies and the occasional screenshot (lol). She was an avid reader, loved listening to music and attending concerts. She was a huge fan of the artist NAS. Shayla loved her designer pocketbooks; you would not see her at an outing without one on her arm. She also loved to travel, cook and spend time with her family and friends.
While in the hospital, battling COVID-19 Pneumonia Shayla held fast to her faith and belief in God. In one of her messages to her sister she said “I am not going to give up I have FAITH and I believe in GOD!! We are fighters.
