Sharon Cooper Obituary

Sharon Elizabeth (Bailey) Cooper departed this life on April 26, 2025, at the age of 67. She was born on December 31, 1957, in Alexandria, Virginia.  Sharon was a beacon of love and strength in the lives of those who knew her. She left this world peacefully in Easton, Maryland, surrounded by the love of her family.

Sharon was the daughter to Delores Costello Bailey and Layton Whitfield Ray, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her beloved son, Reginald Cooper and sister, Marsha Bailey. Her legacy, however, continues through her devoted husband, Ernest Cooper, with whom she shared 42 beautiful years of marriage. Their love was a testament to commitment and partnership, inspiring all who witnessed their journey together.

Sharon is survived by her namesake and daughter, Sharon Ernesia Cooper, along with two stepsons, Timothy and Rodney Cooper, devoted husband and friend, Ernest Cooper. She was a beloved sister to Ruth Elizabeth (Bailey) Payne, Deborah Anne Bailey, Charles Edward Bailey, and Leon Wesley Bailey. Her family also includes five adoring grandchildren: Neko Cooper, Reginald Cooper, Simerrah Cooper, Shakira Cooper, Zayvion Cooper-Davis, her best friend of 40+ years, Alberta Ward (Isaac and Latonya Ward), her dog, Deebo Cooper and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her memory dear in their hearts.

Education was important to Sharon. She attended Charles Houston Elementary and Parker Grey Middle Schools in her hometown of Alexandria. This foundation set the stage for a life dedicated to service and hard work. Sharon’s career spanned over 30 years, during which she worked diligently in dietary at Prince George’s County Hospital, and Reb Facilities on the Eastern Shore as a Cook where her compassion and dedication shined brightly ultimately retiring in 2024.

Sharon's vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her family defined her life. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and ability to bring joy to those around her. Her laughter, gentle touch, and wise words will be profoundly missed.

As we reflect on Sharon’s life, we celebrate the countless moments she shared with her loved ones and the indelible impact she made on all who knew her. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Sharon's name, continuing her legacy of love and compassion.

Sharon Elizabeth Cooper, a daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

May she rest in eternal peace
