Rosalie Batson Obituary

Rosalie Batson was born on August 27, 1932, in Preston, Md, to Myrtle and Martin Cook.

She received her education in Caroline County Public Schools and graduated from Lockerman School with the Class of 1949.

She met and married Louis Batson in 1950 and out of that union came six (6) sons: Ricky Cook, Martin Batson, Victor Batson, George Batson, Kenneth Batson, and Mark Batson.

For many years, she was a seamstress at Fed Sportswear in Federalsburg, Md and later retired from Solo Cup. By no means did she stop at retirement. Early in life, she became a warrior for Christ and always put God first in EVERYTHING she did. She became a member of Bethel AME Church where she was a member of the choir, usher board, culinary committee, President of United Methodist Women, member of the We Care Club, Secretary of the Treasury Committee, and a member of the Nominating Committee.

Rosalie loved her family immensely. She not only had a tremendous love for her husband Louis and her sons but also for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and yes, her great-great grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake and would always have something to eat or would cook up something real quick when you visited her. She and her husband Louis would grow a garden every year that would produce enough crops to feed all of Oak Grove and them some!

Rosalie had the most beautiful spirit and always treated everyone she came in contact with in such a way that she was loved and admired by all.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Martin Cook, Brothers Melvin, Jerome, Charles Wilbert, sister Naomi Williams and sons Ricky and Mark.

She leaves to cherish in her memory her husband of 76 years, Louis Batson of Seaford, DE, sons George (Sylvia) Batson of Federalsburg, Md, Martin (Yvonne) Batson of Queenstown, MD, Victor Batson, Sr. and Kenneth Batson of Seaford, DE, sister Argiletta Batson of Philadelphia, PA, granddaughters Kimberly (Lamar) Purnell, and Lakeisha (Bill) Johns of Seaford, De, Tiffany Batson of Ellendale, Kent Island, MD, Charlene Gould (Andre) of Stevensville, MD, grandsons Victor Batson, Jr. of Bridgeville, DE, Shane Batson of Milford, DE, Jermar Batson of Honolulu, Hawaii, Tremain Batson and Corey Batson of Seaford, DE, Andre Batson of Dover, DE, Ricky Cook of Wilmington, DE, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
