Rodney Arnel Harris

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rodney Arnel Harris, 66, a devoted son, father, brother, and friend.

Rodney was born on June 3, 1960, graduating from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, Class of 1978. Shortly after graduation, Rodney enlisted in the United States Army, serving for six years. He underwent Basic Training in Georgia while serving the remaining years in Germany. Upon leaving military service, Rodney worked at Western Publishing, Cadmus, Matech, and D. S. Smith.

Rodney enjoyed spending time with family, creating lasting memories through laughter, conversation, and the simple moments that meant the most. Rodney was a man of few words; however, he always had insightful words to share. He enjoyed TV and all sports. Rodney was a diehard Washington RedSkins (Commanders) Fan!

Rodney is survived by his beloved mother, Susanne Harris Cornish (James); father, Douglas Cephas; cherished children, Monique Dockins, Rochelle Harris (Alex), and Teresa Parker (fiancée); grandchildren, Kamren Dockins, Christen Dockins, Ja’Niylah Kimble, Alex White, and Ava White; sisters, Miko Collins and Tamiko Collins-Pinder (James); aunts, Glenda Taylor, Arlette Sampson (Rufus), and Tina Cornish (Bishop Keith Cornish); and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his brother and best friend, Donnie Andre Harris, and other relatives. T hough Rodney is no longer with us, his love and wisdom will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
