Rev. William Alfred Ross, Sr., Pastor

Pastor William A. Ross, Sr. entered his eternal resting place on Sunday, September 29, 2024. William was born February 7, 1951 to the late Frank and Mildred Ross in Dorchester County, MD.

Pastor Ross attended Hurlock Elementary School from 1958 – 1963. He attended Macy’s Lane High School in Cambridge, MD from 1963 – 1969. After high school, Pastor Ross attended Lincoln Tech Institute in Baltimore, MD. He completed courses in Auto Technician and received a certificate of completion. In 1972, he received a call to the Ministry and began his studies at Chesapeake College in 1977, and graduated in 1981 with an Associate of Arts Degree in General Education. In 1981, Pastor Ross attended Bowie State College in Bowie, MD. In 1985, he transferred to Salisbury State College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. He went on to attend Drew Theology Seminary in Madison, New Jersey to earn his license to preach. Pastor Ross graduated from Lancaster Theological Seminary in Lancaster, PA in 1990 with a Masters of Divinity. He was ordained Deacon in 1990.  He was later ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church in 1994.

Pastor Ross has served many churches and charges in the United Methodist Church, with his most recent appointment being Hurlock UMC.

Pastor Ross leaves to mourn his passing: his wife of 38 years, Phyllis Ross; two children, William A. Ross, Jr., and Sherrie Myers; son-in-law, Gary Myers; brother, Robert Ross and sister-in-law, Therese Thompson; two grandchildren, Hunter and Mackenzie Myers; godson, Roland Jones, Jr. and wife Rev. Kiesha Jones. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Candice Ross, sister, Deborah Ross, and brother, Ellsworth Thompson.
