Purnell Collins Sr. was born on August 31, 1967 to the late Irene Jones and the late Ernest Purnell Dennis.
Purnell attended North Dorchester High School and graduated with the class of 1986. Shortly after leaving high school, he became a Marine with the United States Marine Corp in 1996.
Purnell attended Sussex Tech to become a Certified Maintenance Mechanic Specialist. He wasted no time in putting his skills to work at various jobs throughout the years.
Purnell loved family time, family gatherings, he had a love of sports, mainly basketball and football. Purnell loved and took great pride with his highly skilled craft, using it to mentor many apprentices. He also loved to sing; his favorite song was “Something about the name Jesus”. Out of all the things that he loved, he loved being a father and grandfather.
Purnell was preceded in death by three brothers, Steve McKnight, Ernest Dennis Jr., five sisters; Sarah Johnson, Lena Mae Dennis, Rosalee Mae Dennis, Yavonya Deshields and Kathleen Dennis, and one son Brandon Collins.
Purnell earthly memories will be cherished by three sons, Purnell Collins Jr. (Eva), Kyle Kilgo and Major Jones, one daughter, Ja’Kayla Collins of Seaford, DE and Rehoboth Beach, DE, two grandsons, Willie Adams, and De’Sai Mitchell, eight brothers; Michael Collins, Charles Dennis of Cambridge, MD, Louis Dennis, Marvin Dennis, Terrell Dennis of Arcadia, FL, Darnell Dennis (Tana) of Vienna, MD, Tony Dennis of York, PA, and Shyann Dennis of Wildwood, FL, four sisters; Jena Mapel of Arcadia, FL, Ernestine Dickerson of Seaford, DE, Sherry Hayward of Princess Anne, MD, and Michelle Dennis of Millersville, MD, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
