Following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Philip Anthony Cawley passed away surrounded by family and loved ones at his home in Easton, MD on April 28, 2024. He was 60 years old.
Phil is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 11 years, Kelly Cawley; children, Gina Moffett, Brittani Cawley, Nicholas Yurcic, Michael Yurcic (Jill), Zachary Yurcic, Erica Pagan (Frank), and Arielle Robinson; siblings, Will Cawley, III (Irina) of Oxford and Christina Nunez-Cawley (Joey) of Easton; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his father, W. Harry Cawley, Jr. of Oxford, his mother, Patricia Cawley Conaway of Easton, and his beloved dog, Brice.
Phil was born on March 5, 1964 in Salinas, Kansas. He spent his childhood years growing up in Oxford, MD forging life-long friendships and memories. Phil attended Easton High School before joining the U.S. Navy where he served as an aviation electronics technician working on the E-2 Hawkeye plane. He was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station, San Diego, with his Squadron, VAW-116 Sun Kings, and deployed on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk and the U.S.S. Ranger. After seeing the world, Phil returned to the Eastern Shore where he owned and operated Cawley Landscape & Designs until his passing.
Throughout his life, Phil touched the lives of those around him with his strength, resilience and unwavering spirit. His generosity, kindness, and compassion knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone he knew. He was an encouragement to many at the Easton YMCA where he spent much of his free time and made many good friends. He was a diehard Terps fan, loved all sports, was a fabulous cook, and cherished his music. His absence will be felt by all.
A celebration of Phil’s life will be held at a time and location to be determined at a later date. The family would like to extend special thanks to Talbot Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and gracious treatment given to Phil and his family in their time of need. Memorial donations in Phil’s name may be made to the Talbot Humane Society.
