Oscar Theodore Cooper (Bo Diddley), son of the late Maxwell and Elizabeth Cooper, was born March 01, 1942. He was 81 years old. Bo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Autum Lake Nursing Home, Glen Burnie, MD.
He received his education from the Talbot County Public Schools.
Bo was raised in Newtown, MD by his mother whom he called, “Libba” and his grandmother Ethel (aka Mama) who nurtured and guided him through his youth. He loved and respected both of them dearly.
Bo was a truck driver for Caroline Poultry and he also worked in the Talbot County school systems as a Building Maintenance Associate, which he enjoyed and he always had a funny kid story to tell.
Bo later joined the US Army and served in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. After his military service he became an active and lifetime member of the American Legion and Sons of the Legion Post 77 in Easton, MD. He took great pride in his participation while marching with the Color Guard. They went on to win four national competitions and numerous state championships. Bo was also a member of New Zion United Methodist Church in Cordova, MD and he sang in the men’s choir.
Bo married the late Glorious Irene Wilson on March 5, 1975. They enjoyed 30 years of happiness until her death. They were active members in church and community activities. Bo was a devoted husband and embraced being a stepdad and “Pop Pop”.
Bo was an easy-going and kind person. He loved to laugh and recall old stories of his youth. He and his nephew, Tyrone were very close and looked out for each other. His great nephew, Jaden loved being around him, Bo’s buddy. He was honorable and a great neighbor and family man. He will truly be missed.
In addition to his parents, he had one sister, Artina Forman (William) who proceeded him in death in April, 2022.
Bo leaves to cherish fond memories one stepson, Carroll Wilson (Joyce) of Goldsboro MD, one stepdaughter, Sharon Turner (Jonathon) of Trappe, MD, one granddaughter, Shaneka (Nikki) Wilson, four grandsons; Carroll Wilson III (Tracey), Clinton Waters Jr. (Autumn), Jonathon Turner Jr. (Yalania) and Aaron Turner, three great grandsons, three nephews; Russell (Mary), Fentress, and Tyrone, four nieces; Nanita (Rickey), Robbyn, Volitta (Lonnie), and Vivian and ten great nieces and nephews.
