Oliver Tinley Jones, 72, born March 27, 1949 to the late Amos Fenson Jones Sr. and the late Victoria Newcomb Jones departed this life on November 6, 2021 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, MD surrounded by family and loved ones.
Oliver received his education in the Dorchester County School system. He later joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1971. He spent most of his years working on a farm on Skinners Run road. He also worked for Jamesway as a security officer.
In his younger days he attended Solomon’s AUMP Church in Williamsburg, MD. Oliver was well known for being a loving person. He enjoyed shooting pool and just riding around enjoying his friends. He was affectionately known as O.J. to them.
Oliver married the love of his life, Karen Chase Jones, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Jones, Amos Jones Jr., and one sister, Thelma Butler and grandson, Timothy Smith Jr.
Left to cherish his memory one daughter, Jacqueline Copper (Charles, Jr.), one son, Timothy Smith (Charmaine), a step-daughter, Destinee Hammond (Gregory) and a stepson, Adam Gaskins, whom he raised as his own, five sisters; Doris Camper (Sherwood), Loretta Thomas (the late Charles), Evangeline Jones (the late Anthony) all of Hurlock, MD, Martha Price (Herion) of Hebron, MD, Valerie Turner (James) of Vienna, MD, one brother, Charles Jones (Audray) of Dover, DE, one aunt, Amanda Conaway, one uncle, Joseph Newcomb, two sisters-n-law, Tambara Steward of Milford, DE and Bernice Jones of Statesboro, GA, brother-n-law, Carville Johnson, seven grandchildren, Tiffany Cephas, Charles Copper III (Arshelle), Jaheim Copper, Nedijah Conaway, Anijah Hammond, Adam Gaskins Jr., Amira Gaskins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
