Monroe Quailes, Jr. Obituary

Monroe Quailes, Jr., was born on November 10, 1948. He departed this life on January 24, 2023 at the Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland. Monroe was the son of the late Lillie Mae Mercado of Bridgeville, Delaware and Monroe Evans of Finchville, Maryland.

Monroe was born in Dorchester County Maryland. He attended school in the Dorchester and Caroline County school system. In 1968, Monroe enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for 4 years during the Vietnam war. In 1974, he re-enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for an additional 4 years. Upon completion of service in the military, Monroe worked at Black & Decker and later on at Cephas Enterprises, alongside his pastor Bishop Charles T. Cephas, Sr. Monroe was later declared a disabled veteran.

Monroe was a dedicated member at the Greater Full Gospel Church of God since 1979. Brother Quailes loved the Lord. He was a dedicated brother and guitar player. You could hear the songs in the guitar as he played.

He was a person with a large heart that would help anyone. Monroe along with Bishop Charles T. Cephas, Sr. was one of the founders of Minister’s & Citizens for Change and on the Town of Hurlock’s Ethics board. He loved playing his guitar, traveling, listening to quartet singing, being a jokester, cutting grass, watching wrestling, fishing, and crabbing, working on Corvair’s, and most importantly helping others and going to church and eating.
