Mary Lee Martin, 77, of Bowie, Maryland, died on March 25, 2024. She was born to the late Wilbert Lee Martin, Sr., and Mary Rose Virginia Martin on April 21, 1946, in Easton, Maryland. Mary was the eldest of five children. She was confirmed in the Roman Catholic faith. Mary graduated from Robert Russa Moton Junior/Senior High School, class of 1966, where she was an honor student. She then furthered her education at Bowie State College, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1970. Mary then received her Master’s of Education from Bowie State College in 1977. Mary retired after 35 years of service at Kenilworth Elementary School in Bowie, Maryland. After retirement, Mary embarked on ushering at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., from the late nineties until 2021. She later started working at the MGM Casino as an inhouse usher at the MGM Grand Theatre and later started working with disbursing giveaways from 2016 until her death. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church on St. Joseph Drive, Landover, MD. She was very active with the Children’s Liturgy of the Word and Sodality. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Mary. Those Left to cherish her memory include: her son, Ron L. Martin (Ladonna) of Federalsburg, MD; sister, Gwenda of Bowie, MD; brothers, Thomas (Joyce) of Severn, MD, Wilbert Jr. (Carol) of St. Michaels, MD, William (Neisha) of Dover, DE; two granddaughters, Marti and Taylor; nieces, Shameka, Carla, and Devan; one great-nephew, Montre; great-grandson, Ty Jr.; and a host of cousins and friends.
