Martha Jane Williams Mcrae, 81 peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at The Pines in Easton, MD. She was born on January 11, 1942, in Stumptown. She is the youngest daughter to the late Hazel (Johns) Williams and Issac Franklin Williams Sr. The Williams family grew up in this community located outside of Easton, MD formerly called “Stumptown “and was renamed to “Williamsburg”.
On October 31, 1961, Martha gave birth to her first daughter, Rosetta Beatrice Williams, who recently passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Later years, Martha met Sargent Earnest Charles Mcrae who lived in Dover, Delaware and was in the military for many years where she fell in love with him, they were married, raising her daughter and 2 sons Reggie and Fredinando Mcrae. As her marriage progressed on Martha gave birth to her second daughter, Dierdre Mcrae, her love, and kindness for children has always been a priority in life.
As death occurred upon her husband, Martha moved from Dover, Delaware back to her hometown in Williamsburg raising her two daughters and would always monitor her stepsons.
Martha begins to work for many years as an overnight crew nursing assistant at the “House in the Pines” for many years in the 1970’s now known as the “The Pines “in Easton, MD
In 1979, Earnest Charles Mcrae died and was buried at Gibbs Cemetery in Dover, Delaware.
In 1989, Martha decided to escalate her work ethics by leaving the Eastern Shore and take on the responsibility of working for a prominent family in Prince George’s County. She temporarily stayed with her niece Hazel, better known as “Cookie,” in Alexandria, VA until she was able to find her own place to live.
Martha enjoyed spending time visiting the Nation’s Capital, Washington, DC
A woman of deep faith, with a caring heart, Martha is survived by her daughter, Dierdre Mcrae of Bradenton, Florida, two sons Reginald Mcrae(Darlene) Fredinando Mcrae of Dover, Delaware
Two Granddaughters, Adrienne J. Griffin of Greensboro, MD. Kayla R. Griffin (Terrance) of Dover, Delaware, 1 brother Issac Franklin Williams (Rhonda) 1 sister Harriett V. Clayton with a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Earnest Charles Mcrae, her daughter Rosetta B. Williams, her parents Hazel (Johns)Williams/Issac F. Williams Sr., her mother- in- Law Gerdie Mcrae her aunt Nanny (Williams) Webb; her sister Rosetta Smith and her brother- in- law Willie Lee Smith Sr. her sister Marcella M. Thomas and brother- in- law Edward David Thomas Sr.
Her brother Howard George Williams and sister-in-law Alethia (Moaney) Williams, her nephews Ray Anthony Smith and Matthew Wayne Smith and Glenn Williams and Craig Williams
