Mable E. (Forman) Friend

Mable E. Friend, daughter of the late Gertrude Green and Perry Forman was born May 7, 1938, in Ridgely, Md. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at her home in Preston, Md.

Mable was educated in the schools of Caroline County. She obtained her G.E.D. In November 1974.

She married her husband Raymond Friend in May 1955, which moved her to Preston Md.

Mable was a faithful member of Coppins AME Church, Preston Md for over 60 plus years. She was the mother of the church and was an encouragement to so many members of the church. Mable loved the Lord first and her family and was on many boards in the church, such as stewards board, usher board, pastors steward, finance, Missionary board, and adult choir. She chaired many annual days at Coppins.

Mable was dedicated to her community and spent countless hours of her time traveling the highways and flying from place to place to get the water project in Jonestown started. The water project began early in 1990. She worked along with several community members to head up Jonestown Community Development Corporation (JCDC), which is still carried on by the younger generation.

Mable worked several jobs such as Federalsburg Sewing Outlet, Preston 151 Line, Easton Memorial Hospital, Caroline Nursing Home, Chesapeake Center and more.

Mable leaves to cherish many great memories, her five children; Cynthia A. Briggs of Seaford Del; Mable A. Butler (Jeffrey, Sr.) of Federalsburg, Md; Connie S. Roach, Robert L. Friend (Lita), and Shannon M. Friend all of Preston, Md; One brother James Hoskins of Harmony, Md; One sister Katherine Forman of Philadelphia, PA; One sister-in-law Barbara Weeks of Federalsburg Md; One Brother-In-law Charles Griffin of Hurlock, Md; 13 Grandchildren: Cawaina Friend, Reginald Friend Sr. (Rena), Roger Friend, Terrell Bulter, Jeffrey Bulter Jr., Samatha Briggs (Randy), Nicole Demby (Eric), Lamar Friend, Rosheca Harris (Brett), Shannon Wilson, Maurice Sampson, Tavon Young (Jaleesa), Taymar Alexander.; 20 Great grandchildren; 5 Great-Great Grandchild a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a long time and faithful care giver Rhonda Cain.

Mable was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond Friend; Mother, Gertrude Green; Father, Perry Forman, Sr.; Brother, Perry Forman, Jr.; Sister, Geraldine Griffin and two Sister-in-law, Betty Jackson, and Frances Friend.
