Lorine Chestnut (Thomas), affectionately known as “Momma”, was born on Oct. 21, 1919 in Quincy, FL to the late George and Lector Thomas.
Lorine attended school in Quincy, FL. She also attended New Hope Church in Apopka, FL. where she was saved and baptized at an early age. As a devoted Christian, “Momma” loved to attend and sing at church.
Lorine met and married Alfonso Chestnut at an early age. She worked as a nanny for Dr. McBride before beginning a career at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, FL. Lorine relocated to Maryland in 1963 where she attended St. Luke Church in Federalsburg, MD.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, “Momma” was well known for her keen memory and love for jewelry and hats. She loved the Lord, her family and getting pampered with her hair and nails.
In her later years, Lorine attended the Adult Day Care Center in Denton, MD, where she was loved and respected by all of the staff. She enjoyed reading the bible and listening to her favorite gospel hymns. Eventually, she became “Momma” to all that knew and loved her.
The Lord saw fit to call our beloved “Momma” to her eternal resting place on March 22, 2021 at the blessed age of 101. Her departure is truly a deep and personal loss to her family as well as her extended family and friends.
