Lester A. Wilson, Jr. Obituary

Lester A. Wilson, Jr.  passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Bridgepoint Hospital Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.  He was 78 years old.  Lester was born on November 13, 1947, to the late Lester A. Wilson, Sr. and Lillian V. Wilson.


Lester was educated in Talbot County Public Schools.  Graduating from Moton High School.  He was a member of Scott’s United Methodist Church at an early age. He continued to be a faithful member after meeting his wife there.  He belonged to the Men’s Choir, Methodist Men and Christian Men’s Alliance.


He owned Wilson’s Grass Cutting service for 38 years.  Lester was also employed at various jobs.  He worked for Talbot County Public Schools as a school bus driver, he was a newspaper carrier, a foreman at Wintersell Farm in Oxford, MD (where he was raised as a child).  Lester was also a custodian at several businesses, the last one was at The Oxford Community Center, were he faithfully worked for 37 years, until his health failed him earlier this year.


Lester enjoyed listening to and playing gospel music.  His favorite artist was Vickie Winans.  Some of his spare time was spent on his tablet and cellphone keeping in touch with family and friends.


Lester is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kathleen Willis and Leona Thomas, son, James Monroe, Sr., bonus daughter, Victoria Gray, three great grandchildren: Ja’mar Lytrell Monroe, Jr., Aiden Monroe & Wynter Monroe.


Lester leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Barbara of 52 years, three daughters, Dinah Franklin (Stanley) of Miami, FL, Lillian Wilson of Trappe, MD, and Leslie Waters (Adrian) of Wilmington, DE and a special niece, Stephanie Harrison of Philadelphia, PA, sixteen grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
