Lela Nichols passed from this life, peacefully, at home in Shiloh House in
Hurlock, MD. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the age of 66.
Lela was born October 18, 1953 in Easton, MD to Byron E. White and Eloise E.
Hulliger White. She is survived by her siblings, Deanna Fijak of Rhode Island,
Byron White, Jr. of Texas and Phyllis Dominick of South Carolina. Lela is also
survived by her many friends who she described as “the epitome of Sunshine,
Beauty & Love”, her dog Odie and her cat Jo Jo.
Lela graduated from Colonel Richardson High School in 1971 and spent the
majority of her work life in the Food Industry. She described cooking as her job,
her hobby and something that she loved to do. She especially loved to have her
friends enjoy the food that she prepared for them. Lela also spent time working
in the Home Care Industry, taking care of many elderly people.
Lela had previously been married to Michael Nichols of Federalsburg.
Lela was one of those people who could accurately be described as a “character”
in the best sense of the word and she had a big heart.
In accordance with Lela’s wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be
scattered in locations that were special to her. A celebration of Lela’s life will be
scheduled at a date and time to be determined in the next few months.
Expressions of sympathy to honor Lela’s memory should be to share a good
meal with friends.
