Larry A. Ricketts Sr., affectionately known as “Uncle Larry” was born on December 20, 1947 to the late George Cannon and Lutitia Pauline Ricketts and was raised as his own son by the late Charles (Pete) Parker.
Larry transitioned from this life to eternal peace on Monday, November 8, 2021 in Talbot County, MD.
Larry was educated in the Caroline County Public Schools attending Lockerman and graduated from Colonel Richardson High School in 1968. He joined the United States Navy in 1969 and received an honorable discharge.
Larry married Holy M. Thompson in 1976 and from that union two children were born, Larry Jr., and Shawanda.
Larry held various jobs both locally and in New York, he retired from Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, MD after many years of service.
Larry was a faithful, active member of Seedtime & Harvest Progressive Church under the leadership of Pastor Terrance Murray.
Larry loved to travel visiting family in New York, Boston and Virginia. He had a knack for art and drawing. He was a sports enthusiast and played several well; basketball, baseball, pool, and bowling to name a few. He was a big jokester and full of life, and if you ever played Spades with him then you better have watched him closely or the joke could be on you.
Larry leaves to cherish fond memories: son, Larry Jr., daughter, Shawnda (Ricketts) Hough, sister, Karen (Parker) Stanley and niece, Nicole Stanley with whom he shared a home with for the past 12 years, 5 grandchildren, Khaliq, Nariyah, Hunter, Olivia, and Aydin, stepsister, Stephanie Parker, niece, Shantell, aunts, Mary Frances Cannon, Marilyn Brown (Rodney), Mabel Cannon, Joyce Kilgoe (William) all of Boston, MA, aunt, Carolyn McKinny and uncle, John Wayne Cannon of Virginia Beach, VA and uncle, James Parker of New York, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
