Kevin Dwayne Cain was born on December 25, 1960, in Talbot County, Maryland, to Norris Cain and Mary Virginia Meekins Cain of Caroline County, MD both of whom preceded him in death. He departed this life on March 11, 2026, in Caroline County, Maryland.  Kevin was also preceded in death by his brother, Tarmain Cain in 1980, and his sister, Cynthia York in 2017.

Kevin was a graduate of Colonel Richardson High School in Federalsburg, Maryland. He was the owner of Royal Development LLC and was widely known as a true “jack of all trades.” Gifted with his hands, Kevin specialized in construction and auto mechanics and was always willing to lend his skills to help others. One summer he traveled to California for several weeks to assist his older brother in completing the construction of his home.

Kevin was raised in Preston, Maryland, where his father purchased a family home on Tanyard Road in 1965. There he grew up playing and learning alongside his five older brothers, who constantly challenged him and helped shape the hardworking man he became.

As an adult, Kevin continued to challenge himself through his work and creativity. He built storage units, constructed chicken coops, installed and repaired roofs, and worked on engines—always serving the needs of those in his surrounding communities. His dedication, work ethic, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Kevin is survived by his life partner, Velma “Michelle” Thompson, and bonus son, Nathanial “RJ” Franklin; his son, Air Force retired Master Sergeant Kevin Cain Jr. of Texas; and his daughter, Andrea Cain of Laurel, Maryland. He is also survived by his siblings: Ronnie Cain (Connie) of Hurlock, Maryland; Tina Lugo of Chester, Pennsylvania; Charlestine Thomas (Edwin) of Fort Washington, Maryland; Norris Cain Jr. (Eva) of Annapolis, Maryland; Saundra Cain of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Demetrius Cain of Tennessee; Adisa O. Karade (Ray Cain) of Chester, Pennsylvania; Paige Cain (Carolanne) of California; and Tomelia Cain of Chester, Pennsylvania.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved grandchildren, Kevarian Cain and Kyson Cain, along with many nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Unk,” and a multitude of cousins. A few he poured into with his time and his knowledge as a craftsman.

Kevin will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
