Keith Lafayette Jones, 74, of Preston, MD, entered eternal rest on January 7, 2026.
Keith was born to Ruth Jones and the late Herbert L. Jones. He received his education from Jonestown Elementary School, Benedictine School, and Woodrow Wilson Higher Education in West Virginia.
He was a dedicated and hard-working man. He was a former employee at Days Inn and William Hill Manor.
Keith was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and sang in several choirs, Unity Fellowship, Senior, Men’s. And he was a member of the United Methodist Men.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Keith also enjoyed singing, dancing, bowling, playing sports, relaxing at home and watching sports, especially his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He made a gospel CD, Keith Jones Presents Keith’s #1 Favorites, which he recorded alongside his cousins, the late James (Pete) Williams Jr. (Lead Guitar), and James Williams III (Keyboard). He always called himself (and his favorite team), #1.
He went to school in Virginia and he learned culinary arts. He learned how to make applesauce cakes and soup, enough to feed an army.
He was loved by all. Children would always gravitate towards him with a spirit so pure. He gave thoughtful gifts and made any space that he entered more lively.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Herbert L. Jones, brother, Carlton W. Jones Sr., brother-in-law, Cleveland Gloster, Jr. maternal grandparents, Nettie H. Jones-Cartwright & Albert Cartwright, paternal grandparents, Annie R. Green-Jones & Samuel E.
