Joan M Bowser, was called home to glory on May 24, 2026 at the Talbot Hospice House in Easton, Maryland.  She was 89 years old.  Joan was born on October 21, 1936, in Laurel, Delaware to the late Lula P Turner and the late Roland V Horsey.

She was educated in Talbot County Public School System, graduating from Robert Russa Moton High School in 1956. 

On August 2, 1963, Joan married Richard “Buck” Bowser, Jr., and they made their home in Cordova, Maryland.  From this union, they had two sons, Richard and Tony.

Joan was a faithful member of St Matthews United Methodist Church.  She was a Lay Servant, Chairman of the Kitchen Committee, President of the Usher Board, and member of the Trustee Board. Joan was often called upon as a prayer warrior because we knew her prayers would be answered.  She enjoyed attending Bible Study and singing in the choir.  There was nothing that kept her from serving and praising the Lord.

Joan was employed at various businesses throughout her life, to include being one of the first employees of McDonald’s on Rt 50 in Easton, the Clam House, Silco’s and Rite-Aid.  Joan was also employed by Richard and Susie Granville for many years as their family caregiver.  Their family, Richard, David and Emily became her family, whom she enjoyed working for each and every day.  She was a very sociable person, a supportive mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  Joan had many hobbies.  She enjoyed traveling, bingo, cooking, having a cookout, and spending time with her family and friends. 

She leaves to mourn her two sons, Richard Bowser, III of Scottown, Maryland and Tony Bowser of Cordova, Maryland, siblings, Charles Turner (Annette), Darlene Carter, and Theresa Green (Donald) all of Maryland; five grandchildren, LaTonya Potter, Tonica Turner (whom she raised), Tavon Bowser, Richard Bowser, IV (Jasmine), and Tyniece Bowser; six great-grandchildren, Jah’Mere Demby, Liliana Mullings, Trevion Bowser, Kanaan Newcomb, Leland Bowser, and Zuri Bowser; three sisters-in-law, Florence Wilson, Theona Hall, and Gloria Keeling; one brother-in-law, Charles Price; close friend, Jackie Thomas along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, parents and close friend Grace Cooper.
