Joan Christine Bailey

Joan Christine Bailey passed away on peacefully on April 18, 2022 at the age 77, in Raleigh NC surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 13, 1944 in Easton Md to the late Rachel Bailey and Perry Brummell. Joan was educated in Talbot County Public School System and attended Robert Russa Moton School.

Joan held various jobs in her lifetime. Her last two were with Genesis Health Care (then The House of Pines) for over 20 years and as a caregiver. She enjoyed traveling, watching her soap operas and her favorite pass time was playing cards. She enjoyed spending time with her children and great grandchildren as well. Being with her sisters and family as often as she could. They could sit and talk for hours at a time; just enjoying one another’s company.

Joan leaves to cherish her memories her daughters; Shielgretta (Richard) Moaney of Greensboro, NC, Monica (Roy) Lindsay, Melissa (Al) Wilson of Raleigh, NC, a son, Troy (Tasha) Brummell of Hurlock, MD, daughter-in-law, Romaine Brummell of Raleigh, NC, sisters; Kay Whitfield, Emmalee Purnell and Michelle Moseley, brothers; Joseph Brummell (Jackie), Robert Wilkins, Parrish Wilson, Dwight Pritchett, and Robert Purnell, brother-in-law, William Jenkins, sister-in-law, Mamie Brummell, sixteen grandchildren; Shemicka Bailey, Jermel Bailey, Keith Wilson, Rikki Gross (Boe), Ka’Sheem Moaney, Olivia Moaney, Johniko (Jamel) Vickers, Jarwuan (Shay) Tucker, Keara Brice, Jonnell Prattis, Mykia Bailey, Nadine Wilson, Letisha Bailey, Ashley Jackson, Shania Weatherington, thirty-three great grandchildren. Joan also leaves to cherish her memories host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a devoted nephew, Roderick Brummell.

Joan was proceeded in death by her husband, Leroy Bailey, parents, Rachel Bailey and Perry Brummell, her son, Kevin Brummell, her sisters; JoAnne Benson, Sherry Ann Pritchett, Emmalee Phillips, Joyce Ann Jenkins, Pauline Mills, brother, Robert (Bobby) Brummell, her grandchildren, LaToya Brummell, Troy Brummell Jr. and Tre’von Gilbert and her devoted companion of over 40 years Francis Allen.
