James Williams, Sr. Obituary

James Leon Williams Sr. affectionately known as “Leon or Snookie” was a son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He peacefully entered eternal life at the age of 83 on Tuesday July 26, 2022, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD.

     Leon was born in Grasonville, MD on January 21, 1939, to the late James Oscar Williams and Louise Williams Butler who preceded him in death.

     Leon graduated from Kennard High School in Centreville, MD. He worked for Barry T. Fox driving truck for many years. After that, he got his own truck and worked for Carolina Freight Company until he retired.

     Leon was known for his delicious Maryland crab and cream of crab soup, along with his home made chilli. He enjoyed fishing, listening to the oldies, hand dancing and going to the casino.

     In 1970, Leon was united in marriage to the late Mary Emma Wilson Williams who preceded him in death on February 20, 1999.

     In addition to his parents and wife, Leon was also preceded in death by his brother, Phillip O. Williams Sr., daughter, Lynette Wilson, granddaughter, Leneea Wilson, great nephew, Keith Williams Jr., a very special dear cousin Michael Seney Sr., and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, in-law, and other relatives.

     Leon leaves to mourn his children; Bronte’ Williams Washington (Bobby), James Williams Jr., Shawn Potter, Cheryl McDade (Wallace), Denise Palmer (Pastor Leonard Palmer), nine grandchildren, Shaniqua Spence, Antwonte Williams, Brandon Williams Sr., Kimah Smith, Tamika Harris, Necola Francis, Yolanda Jones, Glen Lewis Jr., and Dantoine Bryan, seven great-grand children, Myra Williams, Antwone Williams, Ariyall Williams, Brandon Williams Jr., Lynazja Haskins, Madison Francis, Giovanni Jones and Mya Jackson, two brothers, Alfred Williams Sr. of Greensboro, Md, Richard Williams Sr. (Jessie) of Philadelphia, PA, one sister in-law Paralee Williams of Philadelphia, eight nephews; Alfred Williams Jr., Richard Williams Jr., Phillips Williams Jr., and Keith Williams Sr., James Green, Vernon Green, Clark Green and Michael Roy, five nieces, Alfreda Williams, Karen Roberts, Anita Green, Bermuda Brittingham, Kim Wilson Owens, and a host of loving cousins from Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida.
