James Turner, Jr., the only son of the late James and the late Ethel Briggs Turner departed this life on Monday, December 6, 2021, in the care of the Veterans Administration Hospice Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was 69 years old.
James was fondly known as “Gold”, “Unc”, “Dad”, “Uncle G”, “Junior”, and “Bud” by his mother. She was the only one allowed to call him “Bud.”
James decided to serve his country so he joined the United States Army in 1971, where he received the National Defense Service Medal.
Junior received his education in the Caroline County public school system and graduated from Colonel Richardson High School in Federalsburg, MD. “Gold” stayed connected to a special group of his high school friends; Ralph Hooper, Gregory McCray, Joey McCray, Darlene Brewington-Richeson and Harold Briggs. They were known as "The Crew".
Junior was baptized at Mt. Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA on September 1, 2015. His mother was overjoyed that her “Bud” was giving his life to Christ.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Turner, and his second wife, Marguerite Nock.
Junior and his first wife, Connie Teagle, had one son, Jermaine Turner of Los Angeles, California, who survives him. Junior is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Hilliary, two granddaughters, Aubrey and Eliza, two sisters, Linda Evans of Federalsburg, MD and June Thomas of Preston, MD, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Lynnette Coleman-Martin.
