James Gilbert Phillips Jr, was born Purnell James Moulden on March 7, 1961 to the late James Leroy Moulden Sr. & late Elizabeth Jackson. He was adopted by the late Margarett Hall Phillips & late James Gilbert Phillips Sr. He was lovingly raised in Millersville, Maryland.
At the age of 7 years old Jimmy was blessed to meet his birth family. Shortly after, he became a resident of Methodist Border Childcare, followed by Boys Forestry Camp. He then attended Old Mill Senior High School where he met and fell in love with Sandra (Sandy) Ensey. They were married on April 18, 1978. During his marriage he had 3 daughters, that he is survived by, Tina Fithian, Linsey Phillips, and Sabrina Phillips. He is also survived by 5 granddaughters, Jasmine Phillips, Selene Frambes, Harper Swain, Cleo Phillips, and Isabelle Davis. Jimmy and Sandy remained married for 36 years and even in divorce, cohabitated for the remainder of his life. Jimmy also dated Deborah Wilkens for many years, who preceded him in death on May 8, 2022.
As a young man, Jimmy worked as a concrete journeyman for Reliable contracting and then Greenwald through many of their mergers. Upon moving to the eastern shore, he switched career paths to asphalt where he worked for Delmarva Paving as a foreman and Jerry’s paving as a screed operator. In his free time Jimmy enjoyed drag racing, playing 8-ball billiards, fishing, horseshoes & cornhole.
Jimmy leaves behind a host of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Jacobs, Donna Jackson, Tonia Mickens, Benita Stanley-McGlashan, and his brothers, James Leroy Moulden Jr & Lawrence Gilbert Moulden. He is survived by his sister Maria Stanley, and brothers, Daniel Stanley, Vincent Moulden & his favorite, James Edward Moulden.
He will forever be loved and greatly missed.
