James Parker Obituary

            James (Cowboy) Albert Parker, 91 was born on January 10, 1933, in Preston, MD. He departed this life on July 27, 2024 at his residence in Cambridge, MD. James was the last living child of the late Clarence Parker Sr. and the late Florence Johns Parker. James was raised in Preston MD.

          James attended public schools in Caroline County, graduating from Lockerman High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in Korea and Japan and obtained the rank of staff sergeant. James was employed by the New York City Transit Authority until he retired. James made his home in Brooklyn, New York and lived there for 60 years. He was the manager of Bedford Bowling Alley and was the president of “A Touch of Class” bowling club. He was a great bowler and ran a number of bowling leagues. James was also a good motor cyclist and formed “ The New Comers “ motorcycle club. James loved to dance, and could really “cut the rug “ with his dancing skills. He also loved racing fast cars. If you wanted a good race, James was down for it. Let’s Go…

          James and his brother Pete was passionate and loved horses while growing up. James kept that passion for horses after moving to New York, and that inspired him to become a member of The Black Cowboy Association. It is a non-profit organization with the goal of honoring the history of Black Cowboys. In 1994 James became the President of The Black Cowboy Association. The Black Cowboy Association was very well known and respected in the community and was involved in many events. James had 2 ponies named Nugget and Coco. He trained and taught them tricks to entertain when they participated in in parades, block parties, and pony rides for the children in the community.

          Growing up, James was a member of Johns United Methodist Church.

          James is survived by two nieces: Karen Parker Stanley of Cambridge, MD and Stephanie Parker of Upper Marlboro MD.

Two great nieces : Nicole V. Stanley of Cambridge, MD. and Shantell Anderson- Parker of Upper Marlboro, MD .

A bonus grand daughter : Aliyah Piper

A bonus great grand daughter : Amila Huff

And bonus grand sons : Paris Parish, Javed Johnson, Isic Vasquez,

Jacob Huff, Joshua Huff, Kaeshawn Bailey all of New York

Along with a host of friends whom he mentored.

          James is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence Parker Sr. and Florence Parker; Sisters Roberta and Mary Parker; Brothers: Clarence Jr., John, Pete Parker.
