Ecclesiastes 3:2 says “To everything there is a season, A time for every person under heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to be planted.
On Sunday, November 7, 2021, Ida Mae Robinson (91) fulfilled an appointment with God that we all must fulfill. She transformed from labor to reward at TidalHealth in Seaford, DE
She was one of seven children born to the late Amos and Lily (Nichols) Dotson. Born in Cabin Creek, MD; she made her home in Hurlock.
She received her education in the public schools in Dorchester County. She was a graduate of the former St. Clair High School in Cambridge, MD. She worked many years at Harper and Bateman Pickling Company in Hurlock, where she established and maintained lifelong friends.
Ida began her Christian life at Washington United Methodist Church, which later transitioned to Hurlock United Methodist Church. She was a long standing member who preferred to serve faithfully behind the scenes.
Ida loved her family. She looked forward to holiday celebrations, birthday parties and cookouts. Any opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren was her JOY. “Granny” had a wonderful sense of humor that would keep us all laughing. She had the ability to form lasting relationships with people of all ages. She was like a mother to some of the friends and classmates of her own children.
A little unknown fact, Ida was a very talented seamstress. She made everything from a winter coat to a wedding dress.
Later in life, she enjoyed taking long rides on the back country roads of her youth. She was fascinated with all of the changes made over the years.
Ida was the last living family member of her generation. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by all of her siblings; three brothers, Leroy, Edward and Rudolph, three sisters, Magaline, Lucille and Rosalie. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Edward H. Jones Jr. and their infant son.
