Heaven needed a maintenance man and on August 21, 2021, Howard Russell Johnson went to put in his application.
Born, April 1, 1954 to Ethel M. Johnson and William D. Thompson, Peanut, as he was affectionately known was raised by his grandmother along with three other siblings. Upon her death, life guidance was taken over by Marshall and Alice Banks, who introduced him to Christianity at an early age in Oxford. Waters United Methodist Church became his home church throughout his life. He became a very active member.
Peanut attended Talbot County schools and upon graduation joined the workforce. He started out in Oxford at the Robert Morris Inn and went on to form a lucrative lawn care service, after that he became a self-taught maintenance technician for different housing complexes. He wasn’t afraid to work. Peanut was also always there for his family.
Peanut is survived by his son, Cory A. Johnson, brothers, Marshall M. Johnson (Alice), William G. A. Johnson (Bernadette), sister, Sandra Taylor (Walter), a favorite nephew, Allen G. Johnson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many cousins and friends.
