Herman Mason Obituary

Herman Lee Mason, Sr. known to most as “Billy Dee” or “Stimp” was born to the late George and Lealer Mason on October 22, 1949 in Summerdale, AL. He moved to Brooksville, FL at a young age.

Herman received his formal education at Moton High School. He worked at Florida Crush Stone and during the summer as a seasonal worker until relocating to Maryland in 1990.  Herman worked various jobs when he relocated to Maryland including, the town of Federalsburg, Pillsbury, and his last place of employment was Allen Family Foods in Cordova, MD.

Herman was very outspoken and could always make you laugh with his stories and how animated he was while telling them.  He loved to dance and to get dressed up, you couldn’t tell Herman nothing when he put on his Sunday’s Best suits.

Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Jaye Mason, three brothers; Napoleon Mason, George Mason Jr. and Edward Mason, three sisters; Martha Mason, Georgia Harrington, and Geraldine Badger, sister-in-law, Ruby Mason and brother-in-law, Leonard Fletcher, three grandsons; Michael, Malik, and Isiaah Batson.

He will be missed dearly, but his memories will live on through his ten children, Tomeco Batson (Paxton), Kimberly Mason (Delecia), Beverly Bennett, Wanda Griffin, Torsha Griffin, Jesse Owens, Herman Mason, Jr. (Jamie), Zachary Johnson (Keisha), Johnnie Thompson (Tameka), and DeMario Mason, adopted God-given children, Tanisha Fletcher and Alissa Jackson, siblings; Jerome Stanley, Charles Mason (Mary Ann), Tommie Mason, Patricia Mason, Mary Craig, Linda Barabin, and Zona Mason, twenty-six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law; Barbara Mason, Angela Fletcher, and Malinda Wilcox, three brothers-in-law; Lucius Badger, Wayne Fletcher, and Stephen Fletcher. He also leaves to mourn a very special companion, Winifred Johnson, her children and grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
