December 30, 1941 – March 28, 2025
Heidi Bartel Frobenius, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025 in Easton, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert "Herb" Heinrich Frobenius, and her beloved grandson, Herbert Harrison “Harry” Frobenius. Heidi is survived by her sons, Gary Frobenius and his wife Mary Frobenius; Kirk Frobenius and his wife Pamela Frobenius; her daughter, Heidi Ford and her husband Jim Ford; her cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Hannah, Jack, Hayden, Aidan, and Annabelle; and her bonus granddaughters, Kaydence, Kaylynn, and Kassidy. Her precious great-granddaughter, Audrey, brought her immense joy.
Born in Birnbaum an der Warthe, Germany, Heidi’s life was marked by courage and resilience. As a teenager, alone and with only the clothes on her back, she escaped from East Germany not long before the Berlin Wall was erected. She began a new life in Worms, Germany, where she met her future husband, Herb. Shortly after having their first son, they emigrated to the United States. Despite not knowing how to drive or speak English, Heidi’s determination helped her overcome any challenge.
Heidi possessed an extraordinary array of talents. She was a gifted painter, a skilled seamstress, and an avid crocheter. Her authentic German cooking was always highly anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed at family gatherings. A lover of nature, she enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and growing orchids in her sunroom. Whether she was deer hunting with her young son, teaching her grandson to fish, or wielding a chainsaw to cut trees down on her property, Heidi was always happiest being active and outdoors.
Her passion for animals was evident in every aspect of her life. She and Herb bred German Shepherds and lovingly cared for their horses and many cats, dogs and other animals over the years. Her love for animals extended into a career as the proud owner of Heidi’s Pet Parlor, where she provided grooming services with love. Her wit, adventurous spirit and unconditional love made her the best "Omi" anyone could ask for.
A private family celebration of Heidi's life will be held in her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
Rest in peace, our sweet Omi. Your memory will forever fill us with love, laughter, and inspiration.
