Francis Stewart Wilmer of Newtown Road, Queen Anne’s, Maryland departed this life on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Compass Barnett Hospice Center in Centreville, Maryland. He was 98 years old.
Francis Stewart Wilmer was born on January 9, 1925 in Newtown, Maryland to the late Thomas Warrick and Alice Mildred Wilmer. He received some education in the public school system, but did not graduate. He worked at an early age at the Fike’s Orchard for Norman and Anis Fike. He also worked in Delaware as a Construction Worker until he retired in May 1999.
StewBaby is what they called him but he was everybody’s Uncle Stewart, whether they were his nephew or cousin. Stewart liked to be around people and he was always outgoing. He liked working in the yard, rebuilding lawn mowers, working on cars, bike riding and walking. He liked to dress up and was always sharp when he got cleaned up. He was baptized at Camp Pecometh under the leadership of Rev. William Johnson and he was a member of New Zion United Methodist Church. He served as a former Trustee. He was also a member of the New Zion Men’s Association and the New Zion Men’s Choir. His favorite song was “Hush Somebody’s Calling My Name.”
In addition to his parents, Stewart was preceded in death by his wife Etta Lou Wilmer, daughter Charlotte Jenkins, son Rickey Hynson (Barbara), grandsons Ernie Greene (Yolanda) and Brian Hynson, sons -in-laws Royce Jenkins, Oscar Williams and Philip Warner, siblings Amelia Bolden, Thomas Warrick, Jr., Charles Warrick (Pie), and Viola Isley.
Left to cherish his memory are his long-time companion Shirley Wallace Newtown, MD, sons William Greene (Emma) of Trappe, MD, Joseph Hynson (Rosalind) of Newtown, MD, daughters Gloria Warner of Easton, MD, Linda Wilkins of Easton, MD, Brenda Hynson-Williams of Oxon Hill, MD, Lauranne and Shenita Hynson of Easton, MD, his siblings Joseph Warrick (Melvine), Maisie Bolden of Grasonville, MD, Gertrude Brown of Longwoods, MD, Juanita Williams of Baltimore, MD, twenty grandchildren, fourty-four great grandchildren, thrity-one great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
