Ellen Dorfman Obituary

On March 4, 2024, Ellen Sandra Dorfman (formerly Cohen, daughter to Ben and Frances and sister to Harold) of Easton, MD passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Disease. At her side always and providing comfort was her husband, Stan of a 68 year relationship.

Ellen is survived by son, Marc and daughter-in-law, Kelly Ann and grandchildren, Alexa, Michael, Kate and son, Todd and daughter-in-law, Anneli and grandchildren, Annika and Caris.

Ellen was known as a complete homemaker with a warm loving open door policy for family and friends at all times.

Ellen also had a 30 year career as a senior partner in the executive recruiting firm K&A (Krauthamer & Associates). Ellen was recognized as one of the leading women in the executive search industry, exceeding the glass ceiling in what was historically a male dominated industry.

Notably Ellen was directly empowered to place the leader in charge of refurbishing the London subway system and also being hired by the then Governor of Maryland and Stadium Authority to identify someone to oversee the development of the Orioles Baseball Stadium at Camden Yards and the Maryland Convention Center.

Ellen was also responsible for placing the head operational directors for the container ship ports for San Diego, Jacksonville and Baltimore. Additional placements were heads of public transit authorities in Atlanta and Houston among others.

Ellen was often invited to address and counsel the American Public Transportation Association.

With her husband, she enjoyed cruising their boat to Florida and the Bahamas and many Islands. Together they visited and hiked just about every National Park and monument during many cross county trips. They also visited and hiked in the Canadian pacific northwest and Canadian northeast’s major attractions. Sightseeing in the UK and France were also enjoyed. She loved her time with her entire family and every moment spent with her grandchildren who brought smiles to her throughout her journey.

Cherished by all whose lives she improved through her amazing ability to connect with people. She will be missed but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life is planned later.
