Obituary

Eleanor Virginia Chambers was born on December 15, 1941 to the late Dorothy Virginia Harris Chambers and the late William Chambers in New Jersey. She was raised in Hillsboro, Maryland.

Eleanor was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on July 14, 2023 at her home in Denton, Maryland.

Eleanor attended Lockerman High School where she graduated. Shortly after graduating, she went to work at Campbell Soup and remained there for 30+ years until they closed. She then went to work at New Roads and stayed there until she retired. Her last employer was Caroline Nursing Home and Rehabilitation where she worked in Housekeeping.

Eleanor loved to do whatever she could to help her family. She had a heart of gold. Eleanor loved to watch her game show network, Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful and recently the westerns that her sister, Lucille (Mickey) got her watching every day. Eleanor did her very best to help take care of her sister, Lucille (Mickey) whom she lived with for over 20 years until she was called home. They were more than sisters, they were best friends. She also loved watching football and basketball especially her grandson, Logan playing on TV (who plays for the Washington Commanders). Eleanor also loved her slushes, preferably coke and if that wasn’t ready, than the cherry.

Eleanor leaves to cherish her only child, Jeffery Chambers (Linda) grandchildren; Logan Thomas (Brandie), Jordan Mangiafico Chambers, Sydney Butler and three great grandchildren; Logan Thomas Jr., Parker Hawkins and Devin Thomas, three step grandchildren; Cameron, Blake and Carter Thomas, bonus granddaughter/niece, Monque Tate, godchildren; Keith Murray, Tytianna Downes, Jason Brown Jr., Chamarr Hawkins and Careen Bolden, brothers; Charles Chambers (the late Constance Chambers, Rufus Downes (the late Carol Downes), Ernest Downes (Fayetta), sisters, Rosetta Downes and Lucille Brown the late Randolph Brown) and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving family mother, Dorothy Chambers, father William Chambers, brothers; Donald Downes (Hully), Vernon Downes (DD), James Chambers, Harold Chambers (Homezelle) Lester Chambers (Shirley) and sisters; Mary McShan(Eddie) and Ella Huffin, nephews; Micheal McShan, Johnathan Chambers, niece Zena Chambers and Todd Angels.
