Edward Louis Jones, Sr.

Edward Louis Jones, Sr. affectionally known as Eddie or Eddie Bug, departed this life on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, MD. He was 58 years old.

Edward was born on January 1, 1965 in Easton, MD to Bernice Jones and the late Robert L. Jones. He was educated in Dorchester County public schools.

Edward worked several jobs throughout his life. Burris Logistics in Federalsburg, MD was the most recent.

Edward had a special love for his family, his dogs, fishing, crabbing, working out and mentoring. He mentored the South Caroline Mustangs Football team, as well as various sports for his children, nieces and nephews.  

During his school years, Edward mastered winning 1st place in the Cross Country Bayside Championship and Regional Cross Country Championship and also State Champion in Triple Jump and High Jump, 2nd and 3rd place in States, Regional and Bayside Conferences. Edward held these records until his passing. He was also a Black Belt in Taekwonda.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Tomika Jones, two daughters, Shatera Butler of Vienna, MD, Lasheria Jones of Federalsburg, MD, five sons, Edward L. Jones, Jr. of Preston, MD, Tarmonta Smith of Hurlock, MD, Elexion Jones, Isaiah Jones, Emarion Jones of Galestown, MD, mother, Bernice Jones of Georgia, brother, Robert A. Jones, Sr. of Tyaskin, MD, sisters, Pamela Hagin (Mack) of Georgia, Maria Malone (Melvin) of Hurlock, MD, Charlene Braswell of Temple Hills, MD, god mother, Ivory Corsey of Preston, MD, godson, Quamaine Acree of Centreville, MD, great aunt, Sharon Smack, aunts, Martha Price (Harold) of Salisbury, MD, Valerie Turner (James) of Vienna, MD, Loretta Thomas, Doris Camper (Sherwood), Evangeline Jones, all of Hurlock, MD, Dorothy Hamilton (James), Willie Jean Beacon of Elebelle of Georgia, uncles, Charles Jones (Audrey) of Dover, DE, Terry Cannon (Vanessa) of Seaford, DE, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Jones, grandparents, Amos and Victoria Jones, grandparents, Herbert and Robert Wise, grandmother, Marion Cannon, grandfather, Willlie D. Blocker, one son, and one grandson, special friend, Darnell Dennis and special friend and high school coach, Mr. Victor Burns.
