Durelle Conaway Obituary

Durelle Javon Conaway was born on February 23,1988 in Salisbury, MD to Carl and Aretha Conaway.  He was suddenly called home on March 22, 2024.

Durelle, who is affectionately known as “DJ,” graduated from Wicomico Senior High School.  DJ was 6 feet, 7 inches tall and full of life.  He played basketball and enjoyed spending time at the YMCA.  DJ worked as a plumber, learning the trade of plumbing from his late grandfather, Ezxact Brown. He loved his family and childhood friends and remained in constant communication with them. DJ was a writer. He found joy in making others laugh. He wrote joke after joke because he was aspiring to be a comedian. 

Durelle leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Carl and Aretha Conaway of Salisbury, MD; one brother, Brandon Conaway of Salisbury, MD; grandmother, Amanda Conaway of Hurlock, MD; eight uncles, Alfred Brown of Salisbury, MD, Victor Fields of San Diego, CA, Jessie Blount of Salisbury, MD, James Conaway (Ella) of Clinton, MD, Darrell Conaway of Hurlock, MD, Lawrence Conaway of Cambridge, MD, Eugene Conaway, Jr and Orville Conaway of Trappe, MD; eight aunts, Aratha Powell (Eugene) of Baltimore, MD, Tonya Perry (Derrick) of Frederick, MD, Rugenia Montgomery of Salisbury, MD, Rosetta Parker of Hurlock, MD, Wanda Conaway of Hurlock, MD, Tamara Joyner (Kevin) of Hurlock, MD, Lenora Pritchett (Dominick) of Cambridge, MD, Sabrina Brown (Lerenzo) of Hurlock, MD; one great uncle, Joseph Newcomb of Williamsburg, MD; three nephews, Brandon Conaway Jr., August Conaway, Brayden Conaway; one niece Isabella Conaway; special cousins, Kimberly Brown of Odenton, MD and Dionte “Tinker” Dutton of Salisbury, MD; a god sister, Jayla Davis of Cambridge, MD; a special friend Sade Williams of Salisbury, MD, and a host of cousins and friends.

Durelle was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ezxact and Loretta Brown, Eugene Conaway Sr.; aunts Catherine Glover, Carolyn Johnson and Beulah Drummond; and uncles James Brown Sr. and Jerome Conaway.
