Dorothy Ross Obituary

Dorothy Elizabeth Copper Ross was born on May 7, 1954, in Easton, Maryland, to the late Gloria Mae Copper McDaniel and Charles Edward Copper. After the passing of her parents, Dorothy was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Charles and Ardella Little.

Dorothy received her education through the Talbot County School System in Easton, Maryland. She was employed at the Trappe Cannery Factory for several years; however, she ultimately chose to dedicate most of her life to caring for her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was a loving, fun, and devoted caregiver whose presence brought joy to everyone she encountered.

Dorothy was truly the life of the party. Her beautiful smile could light up any room, and her contagious laughter and uplifting spirit were felt by all who knew her. She loved to dance, travel, cook, dress up, and shop—but above all, she cherished spending time with her family. Her absence at any family gathering was immediately noticed, even by the youngest children, because her loving and joyful personality made every moment brighter.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making TikTok videos and dancing together, always finding ways to put a smile on someone’s face.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories of her children: daughter Gloria Copper (Brian Daniels) of Easton, Maryland; sons William Edwards Ross Jr of Baltimore, Maryland, Charles Ross Finney of Baltimore, Maryland, and Germaine Ross Taylor of Centerville, Maryland. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Juliesha Blake (Lonnelle), Jakiesha Blake, Jayona Blake, Ju’shona Blake, all of Easton, Maryland, and Wilshyia Ross of North Carolina; and 11 great-grandchildren: Zamarion Blake, Jamarri Sampson, Ja’ree Brooks, Jazyiah Mills, Alaysia Odyssey, Jayda Brooks, Jayla Brooks, Jazuri Chester, Anyla Odyssey, and Harlow Blake.

She is survived by one sister, Diana Turner of Easton, Maryland; two nieces, Yolanda Copper and Taneika Turner; a special nephew, Aamad Turner, all of Easton, Maryland; and one nephew, Dondrey Copper of Seaford, Delaware.

She is also survived by one uncle, Phillip Copper (Mary) of Providence, Rhode Island; one aunt, Sarah Dawson of Cambridge, Maryland; a beloved cousin, Florence Sampson (Tyrone) of Easton, Maryland, close family friend, Audra Gadson of Providence, RI, and a host of other loving cousins, family members, and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Ross Sr.

Dorothy was truly a butterfly who shared her loving wings with so many. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout the community.
