Doris Copper Obituary

Doris Josephine Harris Copper was born on July 17, 1933 to the late Leroy Harris Sr. and the late Mary Brown in south Philadelphia, PA. She departed this life on August 11, 2024 at her home in Denton, MD. She was 91 years old.

Doris received her education in the Caroline County public school system and graduated from Lockerman High School. Doris was employed at Easton Memorial hospital in Easton, MD for 30 years until she retired. After retirement, she decided to attended Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, MD where she earned her certification in childcare.

Doris met and married the love of her life, Raymond Copper and they were married for 30 years.

She loved others, especially children. She would often make sure that she showed that love by inspiring everyone that she cared about. She had a heart of gold, a personality that was very warm and welcoming and her character was one of compassion. Her sons knew this very well, the saw her to be the Greatest Mom of All Times, she was simply Amazing to them.

Doris will be remembered for many great things, especially her famous steak and macaroni and cheese.

Doris is survived by her loving sons, Kevin Copper and Davin Darren Copper, grandchildren; Damaceo J. Rich, Dazzavion C. Rich, Darien Lassiter, Blessed Rich, Kareem Saed Cooper, Asiah Faith Rich-Cooper,Cha’Kre Chaymor Rich-Carter, nieces; Trenice Handy, Aishia Handy, Kinya Blake, Keyonna Handy, Shalanda Williams, special friend, Dana Ringgold and a host of other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Copper.
