Donald Nichols Obituary

Donald Lee Nichols, son of the late Lynnie Nichols and David Dickerson, was born in Denton, MD on November 19, 1941.  He departed this life on Monday, December 19, 2022, at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, Easton MD.

Donald graduated in June 1960 from Lockerman High School, Denton, MD.  After graduation Donald had various employments at the tomato and pickle factories and grass cutting. He went on to work several years at Esskay Poultry Plant, Cordova, MD.   He then started a career in the binery department at Waverly Press/Cadmus, where he worked for 35 years before retirement.

Donald and Gloria began their life together, June 24, 1962, in holy matrimony. Through this union five children were born, Donza, Felicia, Baron, Teresa and Marchand.

He gave his life to the Lord in 1970 under the leadership of Bishop James L. Brown of the United Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Denton, MD.

Donald was a full believer of the Lord and a man of great faith. He would often be found encouraging people he knew and strangers he met along the way. He served as a lay reader for the late Bishop Earl Hall and Pastor Lowell Collins. He also was a broadcast technician for the Sunday Church services that were aired on the local radio station WANN. He loved playing the bass drum, praising God, reading the Bible daily, gardening, listening to gospel music and the gospel being preached on tapes.

His favorite song he liked to sing was God’s Been Good to Me.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Gloria Ann. He leaves to mourn his children, Donza Nichols, Washington, DC, Felicia (John) Hitch, Federalsburg, MD, Teresa (Donielle) Davis, Harrington, DE, Minister Marchand Nichols; his siblings Marjie Dickerson, Alice (Nathaniel) Thomas, Thompsontown, MD, David (Barbara) Dickerson, Hurlock, MD; his granddaughters, Michelle Nichols, Buffalo NY, De’Jiara Davis, Easton MD, and Brittney Wright, Lacrosse, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Nichols, son Baron Nichols and grandson Marcus Nichols.
