Domingo “Ming” Lamont Brooks, 45 of Hurlock Maryland, passed away peacefully on
November 14, 2025, after a brief illness. Known for his contagious laugh, sharp wit, and a
heart that could brighten even the darkest room, Ming will forever be remembered as a
devoted father, loyal friend and the undeniable life of the party.
Born September 4, 1980, Domingo was the beloved son of the late Janet D. Cephas and the
late Elmer Brooks Sr, a close-knit family who cherished his humor and energy from an early
age. Growing up on the Eastern Shore he built strong friendships and a reputation for being
someone who could make anyone smile. Domingo attended Job Corps, In West Virginia
from 2001 to 2004, where he proudly earned his GED—a milestone that set the stage for his
future. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for cooking, a craft that
became both his creative outlet and a way to connect with others. His kitchen was a place
of laughter, good food and family memories. Domingo worked as a Chef at Ruby Tuesday’s,
The State Hospital Center, Amick Farms and the Hyatt in Crystal City.
Domingo was affectionately called “Ming” by those dearest to him. He had an
unmistakable presence that could light up any gathering. Whether it was cracking jokes,
sharing stories, or turning a simple day into an occasion. Ming was the spark that brought
people together. He found joy in the simple things, watching his favorite show “Martin”,
cheering for the Atlanta Falcons, and admiring his favorite player, Michael Vick. His humor,
love for good television, and fierce team loyalty spoke to his vibrant, down-to-earth spirit.
Deeply rooted in his community, Domingo was a big WWF fan, and he was known as one of
the “Four Horseman”, along with Travis Aldridge, James “Jay” Carter Jr., and Douglas
Dobson Jr., a tight group of friends who stood by each other through life’s ups and downs.
Their friendship was legendary in the area and was a symbol of brotherhood, laughter, and
perseverance. Whether at neighborhood gatherings or local events, Domingo’s energy
made him unforgettable.
Above all, Domingo was a devoted family man. He was a proud father to his sons, Jaquise
Brooks and Jaleel Brooks, whom he loved beyond measure with the support of their mother
Jasmine Aldridge. Domingo is also survived by his siblings, Daren Cephas, Elmer Brooks Jr.,
Demetrick Brooks and Vastina Brooks, all of whom will cherish the memory of their
brothers humor, loyalty and warmth. Ming also found loyalty in the sisterhood with his
close friends that grew up like his sisters, Keisha Turner-Polk and Antionette Hughes and
his neighbor Ms. Joanne. Ming had a special place in his heart for Aretha Woolford and her
children Ty’Ron Woolford and Ty’Ronda Woolford and grandkids Jameerah Williams,
Aubree Woolford and August Woolford. His Aunts and uncle that will cherish his memories
are George and Helen Cephas, Pete Cephas, Angie Marshall, Carrie Mae Jones, and
Rosalee Dunnock. His Special cousin Joseph (Joe) Cephas and host of cousins and friends.
Preceding Domingo in death are his parents, Janet D. Cephas and Elmer Brooks Sr.
Domingo’s story is one of joy, resilience, and connection. Though his life was shorter than
anyone wished and his passing leaves a deep void, Domingo’s spirit will continue to shine
through the laughter he inspired, the meals he shared, and the memories he created. He
taught those around him to laugh louder, love harder, and never take life for granted. His
legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his kind and lively soul.
A memorial service to celebrate Domingo’s life will be held at a later date. His family invites
all who loved and knew him to come together to share stories, laughter, and memories of a
man who lived fully, loved deeply, and made every moment count.
