Diane Noreen Jenkins, daughter of the late Cornelius Yorker Sr. and Frances Ford, was born on January 29, 1950, in Easton, Maryland. She departed this life on September 28, 2024, in Preston, Maryland at the age of 74.
Diane graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1969. For many years, she worked at the Yale Sportswear Company in Easton, Maryland and pursued higher education at both Wor-Wic and Chesapeake Community Colleges. After completing her studies, Diane began working for the State of Maryland at the Caroline County Health Department where she later retired after many years of dedicated service.
Diane devoted much of her life to serving her community and pouring wisdom and valuable life lessons into others. She was a faithful member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Carmichael, Maryland and the United Methodist Women. For over two decades, Diane served as President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 21, a local organization that served veterans, military, and their families. She later became a member of the Auxiliary Unit 77 in Easton, Maryland.
A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Diane was most happy when she was surrounded by those she loved. She would willingly spend countless weekends and summers with her grandchildren creating cherished memories, supporting them and their endeavors, and ensuring they were best prepared for life and adulthood. She would host festive gatherings for Christmas and Thanksgiving at her home, cooking an assortment of delicious food, hosting family and friends from near and far. Diane enjoyed traveling with her loving husband, decorating her home for the holidays, caring for her dogs, shopping, cooking, and watching Family Feud. She will be remembered for her expressiveness, often telling others exactly how she felt through glances of her big, beautiful eyes. Diane loved her family fiercely and was a friend to many in their times of need.
Diane leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 40 years, Charles Jenkins; one son, Dellroy Green Sr.; one step-son, Charles Brummell; one step-daughter, Charlotte Brummell; one brother, Ernest Yorker; two aunts, Thelma Brown and Ernestine Cooper; three sisters-in-law Von Hudson Yorker, Vera Thomas (Walter), and Sylvia Jenkins; three brothers-in-law, Edward Jenkins (Nancy), Louis Jenkins, and Marvin Jenkins (Gwen); six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; one goddaughter, Lashanda Brooks; a special niece, Beverly Clark; close friend, V. Arlene Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many dear friends.
