Delores Trotter Obituary

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die”. Ecclesiastes 3:1-5

My journey here on earth began on Sunday, March 11, 1951 and I entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 22, 2024 surrounded by my loved ones at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center. I was born to the late Lester Demby, Sr. and Arlene Jane Aldridge Demby and everyone that knows me affectionally call me “Sister”.

My dash. “For we live by faith, not by sight” `2 Corinthians 5:7~ I received my education in Dorchester County Public Schools. I have one daughter, Debra Denise Demby and I married the love of my life the late Maurice Lee Trotter who departed this life on April 2, 2002.

Over the years I had the opportunity to work various jobs. I spent the last twenty years at Delmarva Community Services. The clients and my coworkers where my second family. I am going to miss them more than they will ever know.

I loved people and strongly believe that you treat people the way you want to be treated. If you needed the shirt I was wearing, it is yours for the taking. I loved to travel….there was nothing like a good ole road trip. Shopping and going to a good restaurant where also at the top of my list of things to do.

Next to God, my family will always be special to me. I shared and received an abundance of love from each of them. I can tell you though that there is no greater love than the love I had for my grand-children and great grand- children. I spoiled each one and they all held a special place in my heart. They will be with me forever as I have their names tattooed on me.

I love the Lord and at an early age attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church now Faith Community under the leadership of Rev. Nelson C. Stanley. I could always be seen up home at the annual Homecoming. I was an active and faithful member of Zion Baptist Church on Cross Street located here in Cambridge and was there Sunday morning before I took my eternal rest.

Left to cherish memories of my life here on earth are my daughter, Debra Demby of Salisbury MD; Grandsons Tadrian Demby Sr. (Jessica) of Vienna MD and Bruce Butler Jr (Roshelle) of Princess Anne MD; Great Grandchildren Tadrian Demby Jr, Ta'Leah Demby, Blake Butler, Brooke Butler, Jaceon Demby, Bryce Butler, Armani Demby, and Bleek Butler; my two brothers Lester Demby Jr. (Jessica) of Cambridge, MD, Darnell Parker of Seaford, DE; six sisters Elsie Demby of East New Market, MD, Fostine Demby of Salisbury, MD, Arletha Demby and Patricia Demby both of Cambridge, MD, Cassandra Parker and Delphine Parker both of Seaford, DE; five sisters-in-law Adele Trotter, Eleanor Jordan, Azar Johnson, Sharon Townsend and Lynette Jones all of Virginia; and two brothers-in-laws Hilton Trotter and Alexander Trotter both of Virginia and very special friends Tywana Cropper Green of Cambridge, MD, Evangeline Jones of Hurlock, MD and Drusilla (Pat) Macer of High Point, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to my husband, Maurice L Trotter and parents, I was preceded in death by my brother Wayne Demby; grandparents Roland and Laura Demby; nephews Tyson Butler and Jalen Woolford and nieces Cheryl Butler and DeQuane Woolford.

I thank God, my dash has been filled with love, laughter, family and friends and I would not have it any other way. To my family, don’t dwell on what could or should have been, focus on what matters most and until we meet again, know that I LOVED you all!!!
