D'Anna Ayres Obituary

On July 22, 1955, a beautiful soul was born, D’Anna Mae Ayres. “Dee” as most call her, was born to the late Charley Junior Quailes and Alice DeShields-Jackson and was raised by her adoptive parents the late Charles DeShields and Frances DeShields. She transitioned from this side of heaven to the other side on December 22, 2021, at Frederick Health Hospital, Frederick, MD.

Dee obtained her GED from Chesapeake College. She retired as a Home Health Advocate for Seniors, however, continued to work as a volunteer at the Mac Center located in Salisbury, MD. Throughout her career she worked at the ABC Daycare Center, MRDC Headstart and at Colonel Richardson High School with the Afterschool Program. She has touched many, during her tenure and continues to touch people today. Dee lived most of her life on the Eastern Shore where she resided in Preston, MD, Federalsburg, MD, Hurlock, MD, and Salisbury, MD. She relocated to Frederick, MD to be closer to her daughter Collette in 2015.

Dee was ordained as an Evangelist, on October 7, 2001, by The House of Prayer Ministry pastored by Apostle Carroll Watson and Pastor Gloria Watson. She always walked in her gift, whoever she encountered she always gave her beautiful smile, an encouraging word, or a listening ear. No matter where she was in life, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the author and finisher of her faith. Dee was also an Honorary Member of the Majestic Angels, of Wilmington, DE Chapter. As we all know, she loved her motorcycles! She also enjoyed decorating her home, shopping, listening to music, partying, and spending time with her friends and family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Dee was very creative, she enjoyed making hats, fans, and centerpieces. If you had an event on a budget, she would decorate it like you spent thousands of dollars.

Dee leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, her husband Preston Ayres, Frederick, MD; daughters, Nichole Baltimore, Saginaw MI and Collette Camper, Columbia, MD; sisters, Frances Tilghman (William), Federalsburg, MD, Lutisha Gibbs, Georgetown, DE, Rose Pinkett, Federalsburg, MD, sister-in-law; Etta Butler, Preston, MD; brother; Ollie Jones, grandchildren; Christopher Williams, Saginaw MI, Derrick Wilcox III, Dover DE, Tykeria Jenkins, Salisbury, MD, Jazmin Wilcox, Dover, DE, Diamond DeShields, Providence, RI, Tyjae Jenkins, Cambridge, MD and Hanee Camper, Jr, Columbia, MD; great grandchildren, Malik Walters, Ta’Liyah Wilcox-Crain, Zeyunee Wiggins-Williams, Milan Hammond (Cupcake), Tyjae Hill (Poppy), Ahzalya Ross-Johnson (Bun-Bun), and Zane Taylor (Smooch). A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, unofficially adopted children, and grandchildren. A close sister-friend; Mary Weedon and a special nephew; Eric Owens and special nieces; Lorretta Sharp and Lorraine Lightfoot.

In addition to her parents and adoptive parents, Dee was proceeded in death by her: sister; Inez Barnes, Pamela Williams, Rebecca Davis and Elizabeth Jenkins, brothers; Preston Jackson, Robert Peterson, adopted brothers; Donald Butler, Bobby Murray, James Butler, Larry Butler; brothers-in-law; Edward Barnes and William Gibbs.
