Charles Askins, 72, of Cambridge, Maryland, entered eternal rest on December 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Charles was born to the late Jeanette Askins and Leon Askins Sr. He received his education in the Dorchester County Public School System.
He was a dedicated and hard-working man. He held various jobs from the age of 16. He later gained employment with the Dorchester County Board of Education, where he served faithfully as a Head Custodian until his retirement in October 2025.
Charles was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church, where he served as a trustee, usher and he sang in several choirs, especially with the Men’s Choir, which he dearly loved. Charles loved to dress, no matter where you saw him, he was dressed to the "T", everything matching and creased.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. Charles also loved relaxing at home and watching sports—cheering passionately for his favorite football team, the Baltimore Ravens.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo Keene and Timothy Askins, maternal grandparents, Mary and Iving Keene, paternal grandparents, Albert and Alice Askins, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of nine years, Barbara Stewart Askins; one son, Charles Watkins (Meka), five sisters, Sharon Warner (Norman), Ladonna Young, Anne “Hope” Keene, Irene Askins, and Amy Askins Johnson (William), three brothers, Leon Askins Jr. (Katie), Gregory Askins, and Daryl Askins (Laura), one aunt, Savannah Askins, three grandchildren; LaDaejia White, Nigeria Watkins, Chemajah Watkins, one great-grandchild; Khy'lyn Ray Randolph, four bonus children; Geedy Stewart Karen Baily Ronald Sampson, Jarbari Cornish, a grandson BJ Cornish that live with them and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a step mother, Ann Askins all who loved him dearly.
